Our house was built in the early 80s. We bought it five years ago. Every square inch of the house has travertine floors and they were just depressing to look at. I could never get them to look clean. They were also so cracked and damaged that they just looked awful. Our stone showers also needed quite a bit of work.
Amy explained the process thoroughly during the site visit for the quote. She was very clear and up front about what had caused our floors looked so bad, the amount of work that would be needed, what they could and could not repair, and how we could take care of the stone to keep it looking nice for a long time to come. The work team was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. There were many bad spots on our floors where they pretty much worked miracles to make it look nice. Our floors were previously dull, dingy, and looked dirty no matter what we did to clean them. Now they are polished and shiny, and they look clean. Ugly cracks, chips and other damage are filled in, color matched and are barely noticeable. In the showers, the crew cleaned and sealed the stone, fixed places where the grout had cracked away, and filled holes in the stone that were previously very difficult to clean. Amy, and later the work crew gave us a lot of information about how to better care for the stone floors and showers, and also left us with the proper cleaning supplies to do that. The education they provided added a lot of value to the work they did.

Difficult job requiring more time and work then anticipated. We were able to work through the difficulties to everyone’s satisfaction and I wound up with a great floor. Tom’s crews are hard working and caring individuals. Tom and Amy are helpful. informative and fair, and all-round likable folks.

My travertine was installed 16.5 years ago by my home’s builder. It was dirty, had pits and holes, and showed lots of wear and tear from our several big dogs and our ignoance of proper floor care. I obtained three bids. Amy Baker’s bid was pretty much in the middle of other bids. However, she spent more time educating me about my tile and floor care, and her bid was easier to understand.
Amy and Tom promptly answered my emailed follow up questions. I had hoped that my floors would look as good as the two rarely used bedrooms. However, my floors looked much better than when they were originally installed. The satin polish brought an elegance and beauty that was totally unexpected. I had no idea that my floors could look so spectacular. I also had the grout lines color sealed and a bathroom shower and countertops cleaned, polished, pits filled, and surface sealed. The guys who worked on my floors were very nice and personable. I felt so much as ease with them that I left them alone to do their work while I ran errands, etc. They cleaned up at the end of every day, and were careful about not damaging my newly painted interior. Where they did nick some paint, they touched it up before they left. The crew seemed to take a lot of pride in their work. Miles also kept me well-informed of the schedule and progress of the work. I also bought Baker’s floor care kit, as Amy and Miles had taught me how to properly care for my floors. The experience with Baker’s was terrific. I will definitely hire them again.

Getting our stone floors cleaned and polished was the best move (and best investment) we have made – and because we have about 1500 sq ft of travertine it definitely was an investment. Even our friends who knew we were getting our floors cleaned, first thought we had gotten new floors. It has made such a difference in our home and makes me so happy every time I see it. I would highly recommend Bakers – their team was very knowledgeable and professional. We will definitely be using them again and again!
